Oasis Cafe presents: Sound of 12 string Gayageum, Here and Now [Feb-2nd-Sat-7pm]

Oasis Cafe has been hosting musicians from around the globe as we hope to become a cross-breeding grounds for mutual understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures. This February, we are very excited to present Youngsook Song and her friends in a performance of 12 string Gayageum accompanied by the traditional percussion of Chunseung Lee (President, NY Korean Traditional Marching Band), Ji Eun Kim at Cello, and Jessica Park, a traditional Korean dancer.

Ms Song is a leading practitioner of Gayageum, one of the main musical instruments in the Korean music culture, sporting a 1500 year-old heritage in Korea. She also serves as the director of the traditional Korean arts company Ahuhreum, as well as the president of the Gayat Village, among her many roles as performer and patron of traditional music in South Korea.

Ms Song and her colleagues will present a program that combines various traditional Korean art forms, as well as, aspects of modernity. Please come celebrate the Korean New Year with the beautiful music of Gayageum that has resonated for over a thousand years in Korean history and enjoy delicious free refreshments. Seating is limited to the first 90 audience members.

We have created a Facebook event this time. If you are not a FB friend of ECC yet, please become one and spread the word!
