Thinking of those who suffered this week

The crisis during the last few days after the Boston marathon bombing made us think a lot about those who suffer in our neighborhood as well as across the globe. Requiem is a kind of music celebrating for the repose of the soul of the deceased and also consoling the bereaved. As you know, we are soon hosting the Boston Korean Chorus and the Hwaum Orchestra in a benefit concert for the North Korean Refugees. Among the pieces planned for the performance is Gabriel Faure's Requiem. Although the selection of this piece did not anticipate the recent tragic events, it is a fitting music that invites all of us to think about those who suffered and maybe share some of their pains. The following is a short excerpts of the piece performed by the Berlin Phill and the Rundfunkchor of Berlin, the city which had its share of tragedy and resilience over the years.
